PROJECTS

NIDRA
A 60-minute performance for electric guitar and video. A multi-sensory meditation on the dichotomies of subconscious and conscious, dreams and reality.

Starting with a prologue, which is intended to be a space to present brand new music for electric guitar, the show features masterpieces such as Electric Counterpoint by Steve Reich, Vampyr! by Tristan Murail, Trash TV Trance by Fausto Romitelli, Another Possibility by Christian Wolff and an original transcription of Dream by John Cage.

The script of the show was written by guitarist Giacomo Baldelli and developed by OOOPStudio - Alessandro Grisendi and Marco Noviello - into a collection of short movies expressly inspired by the music performed.

NIDRA was premiered at the Secret Theater in New York City in May 2015 and performed several times in the United States and Europe, including a live performance at Biennale Musica in Venice, Italy, in October 2018.

ELECTRIC CREATURES

Electric Creatures is the result of a long process in which I questioned and redefined my relationship with the genre that is most often called “contemporary classical” music. Having played everything from Grisey to Boulez to Reich, I came to a conclusion that what I'm interested in now is a music that combines deep and complex compositional ideas with the accessibility typical of certain popular musical genres: rock, ambient and electronic music.

Born as an album project - released in late 2018 - Electric Creatures is also a show dedicated specifically to perform works full of textural, timbral, and emotional vibrancy, music that draws the listener back again and again to discover something utterly profound in spite of its simplicity.

Composers featured in Electric Creatures performances are: Eve Beglarian, Jacob TV, Andrea Agostini, Nick Norton, Ryan Pratt, Brian Eno and others.

VIRTUAL ELECTRIC GUITAR ENSEMBLE

Virtual Electric Guitar Ensemble is my latest project to date - it was premiered at the Aperto Festival in Reggio Emilia in October 2024.

The idea is to perform a full concert featuring works for solo electric guitar and pre-recorded guitar ensemble/orchestra - all tracks performed and recorded by me.

The show ended up having a strong minimalistic and post-minimalistic signature, featuring music by Steve Reich - Electric Counterpoint and Nagoya Guitars,  Bryce Dessner - Garcia Counterpoint, Brian Eno and brand new works by Andrew McIntosh and Jacob TV.
